JHU X-ray Diffraction Facility, Equipment:
- Xcalibur3 X-ray diffractometer; 3kW sealed-tube generator, running Mo radiation.
- CrysAlis software to operate the diffractometer, manage data collection, index crystal faces, process data, generate axial photographs and synthesize precession-style images.
- Data collection computer (PC running Windows XP) to operate the Xcalibur3 and process data.
- Cryojet liquid nitrogen cold-stream set-up, with temperature control and autofill monitor; includes 70 liter dewar and (rented) 240L storage dewar.
- Remote control of cold stream, generator, and data collection.
- Leica MZ7.5 polarized-light microscope, with digital camera for mass viewing of samples and archival of sample images.
- Additional Windows XP computer for student use.
- Access to Cambridge Structural Database, WinGX, PLATON, and other crystallographic programs.
- Dell laptop running Windows XP for structure solution and refinement.
- Linux PC web-host and file server (for internal data).
- Myriad crystallographic accessories for sample handling including Paratone oil, magnetic crystal caps and cryo-loops for sample mounting. (Currently we mount samples on glass fibers staked in copper magnetic crystal caps).
